The Gujarat State Co-Operative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank which is known as Kheti Bank is a co operative bank giving long term agricultural finance to the farmers. It's established in the year 1951, viz. "aurashtra State Land Mortgage Bank" after the bifurcation of Gujarat from the State of Mumbai, It's area of operation increased to the state of Gujarat and there for in the year 1962 the name of this bank was change as "the Gujarat State Co Operative Land Mortgage Bank Ltd" and with the enhancement of demand of the loan requirement for the farmers for various purposes the name of the bank was change to "the Gujarat State Co Operative Land Development Bank Ltd" in the year 1965 which is at present working in the name "the Gujarat State Co Operative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank Ltd" with the approximately 6 lakh of members and with the 45 crores of Share Capital at the end of the financial year 2017.
Hon'le Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi is constantly striving to double the income of the farmers and the Bank also participate in their efforts. The main activity of the bank is to give loans to the agriculturist for various agricultural purposes. Advances of the bank since inception had reached to Rs. 3800 crores by the end of financial year 2017. Bank makes various types of approach and attempts for timely recovery of loans given to the farmers. Bank gives relief to the farmers in the repayment of their loan installments under the circumstances of natural calamity, and in the interest of loaney farmers by introducing "settlement Scheme " and "Tadjod Scheme" giving an opportunity to the farmers, wave interest amount against full settlement of their loan account.
The functions of the bank is not only giving loan to the agriculturist and collection of loan amount, but receives Fix Deposit also from the public at large and institutions. Bank collect deposit only as per the guidelines of RBI & NABARD there is no risk in the amount deposited in this bank as such deposited amount is well protected. Bank welcomes the public at large to deposit their savings amount in the fixed deposit account and earn more interest from this bank and also the farmers of the state are informed to meet their loan requirement for the agricultural purposes from our bank.
